THE HISTORY

¬ The name Ashton was picked out at random by Delia shortly after the birth of her son, the result of a helpful nurse offering the new mother a book full of baby names to sift through. Ashton was the first name to jump out at her && his middle name Joseph is in memory of her late father.All his life, all Ash ever wanted was to be a pokemon master. Ever since he was a little boy, Ash was ecstatic for the day he’d turn ten && be able to train his very own pokemon. He was so excited that he couldn’t sleep the night before && thus overslept the next day. When he finally arrived at Professor Oak’s laboratory, all the starter pokemon had been chosen. Desperate, Ash begged and was given a Pikachu. They didn’t exactly get along at first && Ash became frustrated; but he refused to give up. His determination to make friends with pikachu overpowered everything else. Even after nearly drowning and being chased down by a flock of angry Spearow, Ash stood by pikachu. That’s where the bond began.Ash would easily say that pikachu is his best buddy. The pokemon had been there with him from the beginning && there was nothing that could take that away from them.So it began, Ash traveling to new regions and competing in leagues. Every gym battle, every new friend && pokemon, Ash fought his hardest to be the very best that he could be. Through hard times and facing off against evil organizations, Ash remained a loyal trainer, standing up against the bad guys, refusing to let Pokemon && people get mistreated. Ash has a zero tolerance for bullying. He would without hesitation give his life for the pokemon he has met across his journeys and actually has, more than once. While he can be stubborn && a little naive at times, he is undoubtedly good. He doesn’t think himself a hero, but he will stop to help anybody in need, even if it’s considered an inconvenience to him.At times, Ash can have a very short temper. He can be proud && stubborn. He’s also easily distracted; preferring to have fun a lot of the time over training. But when it comes down to it, Ash knows when to take things seriously. When it comes to battle strategies, Ash takes his time to think of the best way to win, often using creative techniques. The element of surprise is what he tends to go for.Throughout his travels, Ash has met a lot of pokemon; legendary && mythical alike, though he’ll never boast about who he’s met; simply because he’d rather it be kept a secret to protect them from anybody who may harm them. He won’t lie, but won’t bring it up unless asked && he felt they were trustworthy. Though he has met most of them, to this day he still wonders about Ho-Oh, the mysterious Pokemon he saw on his very first day as a trainer. He’d love to one day meet it.His dream, his goal, his endgame is to be the world’s greatest Pokemon Master. It used to be that he wanted to be the champion, but as years passed, Ash realized that you could be a Pokemon Master in ways other than becoming a region champ. Knowing all about Pokemon was one thing. Unlocking their best ability in a battle was another. Loving and caring for your pokemon as if they were actual human beings and making sure that they lead long, healthy lives was another way that Ash considered one could be a Pokemon Master. So while Ash may not actually catch ‘em all, he considers himself lucky that he has such a good bond with each && every one of his pokemon.

MAIN VERSE

With his partner Pikachu, Ash travels through as many regions as he can, collecting badges and making new friends. Through his travels, he’s met several legendaries and found himself saving the world. After winning the Alola league, Ash decided that it was time to move on. After making this incredibly difficult decision, he headed home. Shortly after, he met Goh and Professor Cerise and became a research fellow at his laboratory in Vermillion City. He’s currently competing in the world coronation series for a chance to battle Leon, the Galar champion.

Ash does not know his real father’s identity or about his half brother Silver unless stated otherwise.

BATTLE FRONTIER

After completing the battle frontier and earning all his symbols, Ash was offered a permanent spot at the facility as a frontier brain. He asked for some time to think about it. Ash returned home after parting ways with his friends and ran into Pidgeot along the way, readding him to the team. Charizard returned shortly after as well, giving Ash a sense of nostalgia. Bulbasaur had evolved at last and Ash felt like that was a sign, so he accepted the spot. On his way back to the frontier, Ash rescued an injured Nidoran that was adamant about staying by his side after he was healed. Ash’s battle zone is called the Friendship Hall, right outside of Cerulean City. Battlers could face Ash for a friendship symbol, proving that by using the bond between pokemon and trainer, they could beat Ash in a battle.
This verse is OPEN, Ash is anywhere between 13-20 years old.
THE TEAM: Pikachu, Ivysaur, Charizard, Pidgeot, Nidoran, Mudkip.
KEY NOTES: Ash is known for his zero tolerance for bullying policy and has kicked trainers out of his facility for bullying their pokemon. He can and will refuse to battle against anyone who doesn’t treat their pokemon with love and respect.
Ash got his mudkip from a Hoenn convention coordinator after he saved a set of starters from being stolen by Team Rocket. He received it as an egg and raised it til it hatched.
Ash is the youngest frontier brain in Kanto history.

PHANTUMP VERSE

One day, Ash Ketchum went missing. There was no sign of him anywhere. After months of no news, a Phantump was found in the woods just outside of Pallet Town. It wouldn’t have been anything to worry about if the Phantump wasn’t wearing Ash’s hat, with a Pikachu trailing after it. It clicked that Ash had died and come back as a Pokémon.

THE TEAM: Pikachu.
KEY NOTES: Ash recognizes his friends and family from when he was alive and is always excited to see them.
He cannot be caught. Trainers have tried and failed.

ENCANTO VERSE

While traveling through the Unova region again, Ash stumbled upon a town deep in the mountains referred to as the encanto. He’d heard of the Madrigals before, but never knew where they were from. After meeting Mirabel and her family, Ash decided he wanted to stay for awhile. The town was fascinating and Ash wanted to see what other kinds of Pokémon he’d come across. Not to mention, he loved spending time with Mirabel.
This verse is SEMI-OPEN. Ash is 16 years old.

TEAM ROCKET VERSE

Ash was partially raised by his father, Giovanni. He is unaware of what team rocket actually does, but knows he isn't really supposed to talk about it. Once he's old enough to set off on his very own pokemon journey, he discovers team rocket's true plans and does what he can to fight against them.

DOES ASH AGE?

Yes. None of this eternally ten nonsense that every one of us knows is ridiculous. His journey started when he was ten and I go by the theory that every region takes about a year. The basic rundown is basically: 10 in Kanto, 11 in Orange Islands (he turned 11 in kanto, this only took a few months while kanto was longer), 12 in Johto, 13 in Hoenn, 14 in Sinnoh, 15 in Unova, 16 in Kalos and 17 in Alola. My Ash will be written around age 16-17. I will write him younger, I just prefer older.

BUT DOESN’T HE ABANDON HIS POKEMON?

This is something that everyone seems to think about Ash as a trainer. Through the series, Ash has released a total of five Pokemon. Butterfree, Pidgeot, Lapras, Goodra and Greninja. He traded one, and gave one away. Ash has also traveled with and looked after several pokemon that he never caught because it was the best for them to go wherever they were going. Squirtle and Primeape are still Ash’s pokemon. Obviously he isn’t going to have any legendaries on his team.

SUB OR DUB?

I have a tendency to default to the english dub for pokemon. If others prefer the Japanese names for things, I don’t mind and I won’t make you change it, though I’ll still revert to english. I also just want to point out that even though I use the dub, I do not write Ash as if he was white. I am fully aware that he is Japanese and I will write about him as such.

ASH NEVER EARNS HIS BADGES THOUGH?

Ash earned half his Kanto badges. Yes, half of them were more or less handed to him. The cascade, boulder, marsh and earth badges were not earned. Earth is open to debate in my eyes, but that’s neither here nor there. Thunder, Soul, Volcano and Rainbow badges were all earned. Give him some credit. Kanto was the only case in which he didn’t earn his badges. Everywhere else, he did.

LEGENDARIES AND MOVIE CANON?

My blog counts some of the movies to be canon. Not all of them. The ones that are canon are: Mewtwo Strikes Back, The Power of One, Spell of the Unown, Pokemon 4Ever, Mewtwo Returns, Pokemon Heroes: Latios & Latias, Jirachi Wish Maker, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, Diancie & the Cocoon of Destruction and Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel.
The rest I either haven’t seen or didn’t care enough about to make it canon.

LEGENDARIES AND MOVIE CANON CONT.

Movie 20 will not be canon. I don’t like that movie. Don’t even talk to me about it.
As for legendaries Ash encountered, he will not talk about it with just anybody. This is for the pokemon’s protection and quite frankly, these experiences were traumatic and he doesn’t want to relive it. The only way your muse should know about Ash’s experiences is if he was there or we discussed Ash opening up about it.
